IQSSL accredits Quantity Surveying undergraduate degree programmes, ranging from those with a specialist focus to those which are more broadly based with a higher emphasis at professional level input, and to those with highly developed vocational focus emphasising at technical level and other key requirements. Each programme is considered on its merits.

These guidelines are designed to evaluate the standard of programmes producing Quantity Surveying graduates with academic qualifications to be recognised only for direct enrolment into Graduate Membership category of IQSSL The following documents provide detailed process of Accreditation of Degree Programmes by IQSSL. All documents are published as approved by Governing Council of IQSSL in August 2016. Any party may contact IQSSL for any further clarifications or information.

Purpose of the Graduate Member Qualifying Examinations (GMQE)

The GMQE is an outcome of a special resolution by the IQSSL membership at an EGM in 2013 and ammended in an EGM in 2019.

The GMQE is an assessment of Quantity Surveying knowledge and skills expected from a Graduate Member of IQSSL to work as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor.

Candidates for GMQE shall be Sri Lankan Citizens over 21 years of age by the closing date of applications, possessing Bachelor Degree qualifications in Quantity Surveying and not less than 1 year post qualifying experience in approved employment in the field of Quantity Surveying.

college boardThe College of Quantity Surveying is the only Educational Institute in Sri Lanka dedicated for Quantity Surveying education established under the Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Sri Lanka (IQSSL). The Institute has been established under an Act of Parliament – Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Sri Lanka (Incorporation) Act, No. 20 of 2007.

As expressly described in the Act, one of the primary objectives of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors is as follows.

To achieve this objective in practice, in 2005, the Institute of Quantity Surveyors Sri Lanka established its education arm ‘The College of Quantity Surveying’ completely dedicated for Quantity Surveying education and practice. This bold step taken by the IQSSL became huge leap towards the establishment of a professional practice in Quantity Surveying capable of catering both local and foreign construction industry requirements.
